A young woman is in hospital, having been severely beaten with a tyre iron in a vicious home invasion, and the press are clamouring for information. Inspector Falcon-Price arrives from Mt Thomas, takes command of the station and clashes with Amy about how to conduct the investigation. Snr Sgt Tom Croydon is mysteriously absent, having uncharacteristically taken a few days' leave, supposedly to go fishing. Amy knows where he really is but she isn't saying; Kelly tries to track him down. Alex's son Rory is at the station, having another day off school, and Susie takes him with her on a routine trip to a farm to get some papers signed. Written by

It's a day at the races, and Joss and Kelly are on patrol at the racecourse. They nab a pickpocket in the act of trying to rob a professional punter - who, oddly, declines to press charges. Later in the day the gambler is beaten up in the car-park - but claims he didn't see his assailant. The detectives are soon wondering if something more is going on - and, of course, it is. Meanwhile, Tom is at home convalescing after his operation, and Matt, reluctantly taking a day off, is having a busman's holiday. Written by

Kelly drags a homeless wino from a burning building, and promptly arrests a young man at the scene who admits he lights fires for a sexual thrill. Back at the station, however, he retracts his confession and asks for a lawyer. A new, young, legal aid solicitor turns up, and he and Kelly are immediately attracted to each other. When the case comes to court, it's her first time prosecuting. The lawyer asks her out before court - but then he demolishes her case, humiliating her. He's "just doing his job" - but she's furious of course and cancels the date. Then there's another fire... Meanwhile, Joss's mother is visiting, excited at the trip to Rome he is shouting her, but puzzled as to where he's getting the money. She asks Kelly to investigate. Written by

Kelly and Joss haul the pilot from a crashed crop-spraying plane - or rather, Kelly does, with the help of a a neighbouring organic farmer. Joss keeps his distance, apparently afraid the plane will explode. The pilot has had letters threatening his plane will be sabotaged, and the greenie farmer, who's been heard to threaten him at a public meeting, soon becomes the prime suspect. Another incident reinforces Kelly's suspicion of him, and also her feeling that Joss has lost his nerve. But Joss has other troubles - he is seriously behind with his rent. Kelly's friend the new lawyer is representing the organic farmer, and their relationship continues its wild see-sawing between attraction and infuriation. Meanwhile, a box of valuable comics has been stolen from a collector, and Susie and Matt investigate. Alex's son Rory has a crush on Susie, and grabs any excuse to seek her out. She indulges him and recruits him and his friend Lachie, the son of the collector, as junior detectives. In this episode Alex reverts to the subtlety and sound judgement we used to see from him before he was pushed into the role of acting sergeant. He is insightful and effective, fair but firm, as both sergeant and father, and resolves each thread of the plot with wisdom even though he'd followed a few false trails earlier. Written by

Description ▼
After a drug dealer is caught outside the school and claims the drugs he was carrying were planted on him by the police, Kelly and Matt mount a surveillance operation on him. They see him apparently buying drugs from a supplier, but when they chase him he runs into his lawyer's office, and when he emerges there are no drugs on him. Returning later with a search warrant, they find drugs hidden under a cushion in the lawyer's waiting room. He refuses to break client confidentiality and looks like being charged with possession himself. Meanwhile, the romance between him and Kelly continues to grow. Joss is still short of money and is moonlighting as a cab driver, and Matt suspects him of paying Alex to give him favourable shifts. Joss uses the police database to track down a fare-jumper and demand payment, and is distraught when later the man is shot dead by bank robbers while he is withdrawing money to pay Joss. He perks up though when a passenger hires him for a lucrative ride all the way to Melbourne, but during the trip he finds himself in a dangerous situation after he realises his passenger is someone he must act against as a police officer as well. Disgraced former constable Adam Cooper returns to Mount Thomas and Tom Croydon has his suspicions about him only to be proven right when Cooper makes a serious accusation against Tom. Meanwhile, Tom receives some bad news about his cancer and is told he has to have chemotherapy where he strikes up an unlikely friendship with end-stage cancer victim Gina O'Connor. Elsewhere, Matt's hearing is affected when a shotgun is discharged beside his head during a botched drugs bust and David Murray asks Kelly to move in with him. Inspector Falcon Price calls the team together and tells them that Tom has been suspended and that he is closing the station and they will be re-deployed to other stations. Written by

Description ▼
After 13 years and 510 episodes, BLUE HEELERS bids farewell with a special two hour movie-length episode hosted by Gold Logie winner, John Wood. Senior Sgt Tom Croydon knows he should be looking after his own health and renewing ties with his estranged family. But he's distracted when disgraced former constable Adam Cooper returns to town and makes serious criminal accusations against him. Detective Amy Fox and Acting Sergeant Alex Kirby pressure Tom to clear his name, but he seems disinterested. What they don't know is he's helping a young female cancer patient through the last stages of her terminal illness. Tom last saw Adam eight years ago when he was dismissed from the police force for corruption. Now Adam's accusations may send Tom to jail, the station is about to be closed, and the jobs of all the Mt Thomas police are on the line. But Tom does not seem interested in saving himself, or his colleagues. His personal life is in turmoil. Still coming to terms with the effects of his recent prostate cancer operation, Tom is caring for a fellow cancer patient in her final days. His new friend's plight makes him think about reuniting with his estranged daughters and grandchildren. Detective Amy Fox and Acting Sergeant Alex Kirby struggle to investigate Tom's case and keep the station running. The team reluctantly seek other postings and prepare to be split up. By the day's end, Tom has made some life altering decisions. Written by
