In Abu Dhabi, the Energeen delegation is impressed by sheikh Al-Wasem's fully green desert city, so the CEO decides to sell him 20% to buy into the quantum energy transport project, although the patent inventor fears it won't get operational for decades. Peter and Nicky bury most of the cash, yet can't resist spending 10,000 Euros, and police tech Alf traces the stolen tablet to their employer Johan's garage, but he covers for them. Mads's superiors won't officially allow his investigation, but Alf finds cloud copy data strongly suggesting the thieves are set up to cover for a firm machination. However their CFO offers to cooperate so as to keep the blame on the fire duo.

Nicky volunteers to advance his mate's gambling debt to the Serbians, but those insist to recruit unwilling Nicky, whose father in law and employer first beats him up himself, then promises to contact 'acquaintances' to get them off the boys' backs. Mads is transferred indefinitely to the financial crime unit, but can't and won't adopt their bureaucratic methods, yet with Alf's brilliant help and some ordinary questioning works out that the Energy ministry's secretary general is in corrupt league with Energreen's present CFO, who now resists in vain the plans to sell off Jørgen Thullander's daughter company, so the legal chief goes order firing half the staff instead, only to have that order canceled because its assets were drained to zero value.

Alf's ITC skills allow finding out that Energreen was being critically studied by his ex, financial daily reporter Mia Hermansen, who also has a 'deep throat' source, but she's not very forthcoming. Mads moves out after he and his wife found out each-other's affairs, hoping a time-out at Alf's may allow patching up his marriage. Nicky's father in law Jan presents him and Bimse to 'accountant' Erik, *who proposes laundering the cash trough a 'front' garage, which the lads still want to work in. Having worked out Energreen's main asset is the research I its Polish factory, Alf and Mads travel thereto. Claudia starts an affair with Tobias, a handsome executive at a major investor firm, who starts bonding with her son Bertram.

Energreen's European capitals road show to recruit enough major investors is hanging by a thread, as Mia's posthumous blog-article and Claudia's stupid blunder in London scare most off, but her lover Tobias convinces his firm to make the crucial move. Alf and Mads return home after discovering the Poland lab was dismantled and its research moved to India. Nicky seeks a buyer for the notebook he 'found' with the cash trough Erik, expecting another fortune, but they are shot at. Alf and a police ITC tech trace Mia's secret informer and try to set up a meeting by e-mail, where Claudia's junior colleague Jens Kristian ultimately steps forward. Claudia's son recognizes Mia's killer, an old friend of CEO Alexander.

Nicky and Bimse have a hard time dealing with badly shot-wounded 'accountant' Erik. They need to 'borrow' cash from father in law Jan's safe to pay a dodgy doctor recommended trough Bimse's addict mate Andreas, who holds them at gunpoint afterward, but is shot dead by Sander's hit-man, who thus obliges them. Energreen's stock exchange launch is an instant hit. The justice ministry blackmails the police over budget cuts to push the case, do Mads and Alf must push whistle-blower Jens Kristian to take crazy risks to prove Sander's part. He only gets a recording against Claudia, and naively refuses to wreck her life, while she hopes to wriggle out and join her husband Steen in Paris with son Bertram.

Jens Kristian and Clausia set a trap to make Alexander sign a new dummy corporation contract, but he only pretends so. Sander's henchman P calls his marker on Nicky and Bimse for killing the junkie, so they agree to plant a document in Jens Kristian's apartment. The whistle-blower is now fired and expelled from the firm by Claudia, who has chosen Sander's side after her 'naive' mentor, law professor Ebbe, advised she should owe up and face trial and probably jail, so they conspire to attempt destroying all evidence, she hopes to leave for Paris a few months later. Nicky insists the junk's dog must be eliminated as possible evidence, but when Bimse reluctantly agrees, can't fire the fatal shot. Mads and Alf's case is now without any solid proof, the justice minister refuses to continue it at all. Even side-tracked CFO Ulrik, who got drunk at the stock exchange launch, gathers courage to resume his job, Sander insists to celebrate lavishly as the stock keeps rising.

With Mia dead and Jens discredited, hence all evidence burnt, Alf considers the case hopeless, but Mads insists to work out the real accounts, which show Energreen is virtually broke. Mads sneakily gets a major creditor -a bank he tips off illegally- to file a claim leading to bankruptcy, Claudia fails counter-bluffing. Sander's Swedish killer P finds out that Nicky and Bimse sold the computer for two million Euro and demands the cash, or at last the remainder, as Jan refuses to contribute, but isn't satisfied with less, so the Bimse knocks him down, Jan would dispose of him but is overpowered.

Thanks to the bank Mads manipulated, Energreen is declared bankrupt, CFO Ulrik commits suicide, but Sander may get away due to 'poisoned tree'-burnt evidence. However putting the heat on the board chairman changes things, so Sander asks P to arrange a flight abroad. Claudia is invited too, but ultimately can't leave Bertram. P reaches a deal with Nicky and Bimse about the remaining cash.

A seemingly trivial case of a small carpentry business that has gone bankrupt under mysterious circumstances gets Mads' attention. Claudia is released after one and a half years in prison but her son is in Paris and the only work she can find is at a coffee shop. But then she gets a visit from Energreen's old chairman, Mr. Christensen. Nicky and Bimse still has the auto repair shop - but on the side, Nicky has become an apprentice to the Swede, "P".

Mads has to defend the police's handling of the hostage crisis in Nova Bank. He digs deeper and find that the bank forced the carpenter into bankruptcy. Claudia has her first day at Absalon Bank. P is still in the hospital and will need to let Nicky take over his tasks.

Mads and Alf unravel the corrupt practices at Nova Bank, not realizing that their boss Nanna is reporting their findings to Nova's chairman, the very man they are trying to bring down. Amanda struggles with her demons as Absalon Bank faces a critical vote from its shareholders. The Swede tries to influence this vote and gives Nicky a dirty job to do.

After his failed assignment, Nicky has fallen out of favour with the Swede and is tipped over the edge when he can't get answers from him. At the Fraud Squad, Mads is more impatient than ever to get evidence against Christensen. Against his boss's advice, he heads over to Absalon Bank and sees something that will be important for the investigation - Claudia.

Claudia is feeding the police information about Christensen, but fails to give them any concrete evidence. Mads and Alf press her to lure him into a trap. Their co-operation brings up the Energreen scandal again, and Claudia tells them what she knows about Sanders' escape route, information which puts them on the trail of the Swede. Meanwhile, the Swede meant what he said to Nicky who now reports directly to Christensen, while the Swede himself prepares his exit from the dirty games.

Former car mechanic and petty thief Nicky is working for drug lord Marco to set up a network in Denmark. Traumatised and insomniac detective Alf working with the drug squad finds a storage room full of dead Roma who are all, on paper at least, millionaires. Nicky is told by a bent policeman that his ex-wife has handed their son over to social services.

Bank clerk Anna Hansen, passed over for promotion and ignored by a churlish husband and son, is drawn into the world of money laundering. Alf is led by the dead Roma to a travel agent used for the same purpose by Nicky, who is looking for his son.

Anna is looking for clients for her money laundering business and picks up some handy tips from an unsuspecting colleague. Nicky gets stroppy with one of his buyers. Alf is pursuing the man who may have killed the Roma but when he sees Nicky, remembered from an earlier case, he thinks he might be on the wrong trail.

Alf's boss tells him to forget about Nicky but he goes it alone until he gets help from an unexpected quarter. Nicky's having trouble finding a customer for a drug delivery gone wrong until he's introduced to a Palestinian with big ambitions. Anna's attempt to open a Dubai bank account for her new client is turned down by a young smartass but she's not giving up.

When Anna's husband finds out what she's up to and orders her to stop, she asks Nicky to send in his goons while she sets up a money laundering network. When the bugs he's put in Nicky's flat yield no information, Alf, whose behaviour is becoming increasingly psychotic, decides to shake things up by arresting a drug mule, but it goes disastrously wrong.

A new romance, the prospect of gaining custody of his son and increasing harassment from Alf lead Nicky to think of getting out of the drug business. Anna is told that all the bank's accounts are to be audited and needs to cover her tracks in a hurry. When Alf learns that Marco is coming to visit Nicky, he sets a trail to catch them both.

Nicky's happy family life is interrupted by sidekick Lala who is taking over the hash business but is going too easy on their main customers, Wasim and Nabil. When Lala is the victim of a vicious racial assault, Nicky abandons him to them. Anna has to deal with Alf, who's come to examine Nicky's bank accounts, and bank manager Nete, who needs a combination of cajoling and threatening to keep her in line. Alf is being blackmailed by the corrupt chief of police, who wants him to stop going after Nicky.

War has broken out between the hash gangs and Nicky is once again at loggerheads with Lala, who is willing to traffic guns to Nabil to fight it. Alf has rediscovered his moral backbone and resumed the investigation into Nicky and Marco. When the chief of police reacts by threatening to slash the department's budget, Alf comes clean to his boss who gives him 24 hours to nail the pair. Sifting through the evidence he has, Alf suddenly realises who Marco is. But Lala has beaten him to it and goes looking for Nicky with murder in mind.

Although he's badly wounded, Nicky escapes from hospital, kidnaps his own son and tells Anna to transfer his money to Spain only to find that Lala and Nabil have seized control of it. When Anna asks Nete to help her recover it, she is fired instead, but with the gang threatening her family she heads off to Nete's house with murderous intent. Alf's attempts to pursue Nicky are thwarted by the chief of police, who uses his blackmail evidence to have him suspended from duty. Nicky realises he now has only one way out.

Anna decides that the only way to be rid of Lala and Nabil's threats is to come clean to the bank about her money laundering, even though it will mean going to prison. Alf hands Nicky over to the police who've come to arrest him, not knowing they're working for the chief of police, who wants Nicky out of the country for good, but Nicky leaves clues for Alf to go in hot pursuit before he can be bundled on to the plane. As the criminals are brought to justice, for Anna events take an unexpected turn and her future is looking rosy, but do Alf and Nicky it's anything but.
