Brian Bird is currently writing and producing four films: The Last Sin Eater (2007) based on the novel by Francine Rivers, in partnership with Michael Landon Jr., for 20th Century Fox; Not Easily Broken (2009), adapted from the novel by T.D. Jakes, for Sony/Screen Gems; The Magnolia Passion, inspired by the 1955 lynching of Emmett Till, for CineCity Pictures; and Jake's Run (2009) for Genesis Pictures. He also sold a television pilot, Peter, Paul & Lena, with partner Martin Sheen, to NBC for its 2006 development slate.Most recently, Brian wrote and developed Simple City, an original TV series pilot for Showtime, with producing partners Morgan Freeman and Patrick Stewart. Prior to that he served as co-executive producer and writer on the final five seasons on the series "Touched by an Angel" (1994). His script for Call Me Claus (2001) (TV), the Whoopi Goldberg starrer, was the highest rated cable TV film of 2002. Brian's other film credits include the Morgan Freeman-directed Bopha! (1993) for Paramount Pictures, and the Hallmark Hall of Fame drama Captive Heart: The James Mink Story (1996) (TV) with Louis Gossett Jr. and Ruby Dee. He has also written screen adaptations of In Silence for Paramount Pictures, Trail of Tears: The Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation for TNT, Before Time Runs Out for Fox Broadcasting Company, The Deaths of Sybil Bolton for CBS and A Dirty Business for HBO. His TV series producer and writing credits include more than 250 episodes of Touched By an Angel, Evening Shade, Step by Step and The Family Man.Prior to his work in Hollywood, Brian was a staff reporter for the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, and then served as Director of Public Relations for World Vision. During that time, he also wrote widely in the Christian press, including news and cover stories for Christianity Today magazine. He graduated with a degree in journalism from California State University at Fullerton in 1980.He is on the faculty of Act One: Writing for Hollywood, a member of the Studio Task Force of Biola University, a panelist for The City of Angels Film Festival, and has spoken widely on the subject of Christian involvement in the arts, including events at Saddleback Church, Willow Creek Church, Palm Beach Atlantic and Biola Universities. His best productions to date, however, are his five children with his wife of 25 years, Patty.He is represented in film and television by John Bauman of the The Gersh Literary and Talent Agency of Beverly Hills, attorney Cliff Gilbert-Lurie of Ziffren-Branca-Brittenham, and is managed by Lisa Sanderson.
